I made the mistake of reading the facebook comments.

    • Mikhaila on September 9, 2018 at 10:55 pm

      Yeah not a good idea. I haven’t.

“They have designed a lifestyle around upsetting other people.” How narcissistic can these people get? People get into this diet to be healthy. People drive trucks around because that is their preference. “The meat represents a piece of identity they are losing.” I don’t pop off the pillow thinking about how I can be a victim or how I could piss these stupid people off. A classic case in psychological projection.

  3. Susan Christensen on September 9, 2018 at 11:54 pm

Why does the left make everything about politics? It’s just food. Relax.

  4. Brydan Sigurdson on September 10, 2018 at 12:03 am

This is stated under all Mother Jones Articles, by the DONATE button… “FACT: Mother Jones was founded as a nonprofit in 1976 because we knew corporations and the wealthy wouldn’t fund the type of hard-hitting journalism we set out to do.”

I laughed after reading that and then remembering the title of the article: “The Bizarre Fad Diet Taking the Far Right by Storm”

Real hard hitting journalism hey? What a joke.

  5. Paul King on September 10, 2018 at 12:08 am

I guess the uptake of lab grown meat will eventually shut most of the political and moralistic objections down.

  6. Seth Ritley on September 10, 2018 at 12:18 am

She says conservatives are becoming carnivores just to pisse off the left. As much as I love seeing lefties squirm, what a petty reason to make such a major lifestyle change. I’m the one that my dietary habits have the biggest impact on, not them or anyone else.

But since she’s upset, I guess I’ll just have to sit back and enjoy it while I can. 😀

Re eating meat is an alt-riight thing. See the TED talk by Allan Savoury at https://www.ted.com/talks/allan_savory_how_to_green_the_world_s_deserts_and_reverse_climate_change#t-1350775
The only way to reverse climate change and reverse desertification is through livestock used in a way that mimicks nature–that is bunched together and moving. Also, for large semi-arid areas of the globe, the only way people can be fed from the land is through livestock.

Yes the Lib-Lefts are so far behind the latest findings on the environment they are advocating the worst possible course.

      • moiraeastman3 on September 10, 2018 at 4:42 am

so true. I’m starting to like being called an alt-right.

my god the comments on that article are simply amazing.

  9. Palmer Davis on September 10, 2018 at 2:25 am

Liberal media hysteria has bothered me (as a “walk away” liberal) for some time and this example really blew my mind. It’s a nutrition blog for Pete’s sake! Although my post below doesn’t directly speak to this specific article, it was inspired by it. Please keep up the good work and try to ignore leftist lunacy. ? http://bypalmer.com/2018/09/09/red-queen-journalism-and-our-missing-sense-of-humor/

    • moiraeastman3 on September 10, 2018 at 4:47 am

i walked away a long time ago, so i probably don’t count as a walk-away. but I read Obama’s speech in Illinois. Full of lies. HE is responsible for the turn-around in the economy! Appalling.

    Meat knows no politics!

    • naughtee design on September 10, 2018 at 3:42 am

apparently it really does, that comment section is a weird mix of religious environmentalism, TDS and vegan nut-jobs.

  11. Flygande Potatis on September 10, 2018 at 3:52 am

Yeah, my gain in the end is not being tired daily, having an easier time formulating thoughts, and recover quicker from my workouts

    That stuff was ridicilous

  12. Heather K Tracy on September 10, 2018 at 5:12 am

Wow. The level of glee exhibited by many of the commenters on that sorry excuse for an ‘article’ was chilling.

The swarm of delighted SJW’s as they contemplated the supposed demise of anyone daring to challenge the Ancel Keys Mythology was eye-opening for me. What a cesspit of ‘I’m so happy they will all die of heart disease’ nonsense!

Thank goodness a few level-headed souls calmly rebutted the outright fallacies being strewn about the place…

On the other hand, I’m eternally grateful for having stumbled across Mikhaila’s story early this Spring – it inspired me to ditch the carbs and begin the slow climb back to a state of health I haven’t enjoyed in decades. What you are doing is actually changing lives for the better – something that transcends any political agenda out there. Thank you.

    • Jeroen on September 11, 2018 at 4:00 pm

That’s the rabid left for you (and yes, some on the right act similar, but a far smaller percentage).

  13. moiraeastman3 on September 10, 2018 at 6:19 am

Fantastic comment. Yes, “changing lives for the better – something that transcends any political agenda out there.”

  14. Scott Knowles on September 10, 2018 at 7:39 am

The number of logical fallacies riddled throughout that article is unbelievable.

  15. moiraeastman3 on September 10, 2018 at 8:14 am

    Agreed! Agreed!

  16. Radrube on September 10, 2018 at 8:39 am

    Jesus.
Alt-right conservative fad diet? Afraid of my masculinity being stripped away by tofu? …
But I’m just a girl, standing in front of a plate of beef, hoping to loose my pregnancy weight and overcome a little depression.

  17. Ben Wood (@BenjaminRVA) on September 10, 2018 at 9:25 am

Wait…it’s not? But that’s why I got in the carnivore game!

  18. Jim Kennedy on September 10, 2018 at 10:25 am

Remember when they have NO ARGUMENT they resort to name calling.

  19. Helen on September 10, 2018 at 10:55 am

No one follows this diet for kicks and giggles! It’s hard to live with dietary restrictions. No one sticks to it unless the pay off is worth it. Living life in a low functioning state with chronic pain, weakness, and brain fog is not worth a slice of pizza. This diet is not for the healthy, it’s for the sick …for the people our medical system has not healed. I am not on this meat diet but I have a huge amount of foods that I can’t eat. I follow Mikhaila’s story with great interest. Cheering you on from the sidelines Makhaila!

  20. 46 percenter on September 10, 2018 at 10:59 am

Amazing how some people can politicize anything. I note also a disturbing trend – set up as a nonprofit, then ask people to donate money so you can write and publish editorial hit-pieces on whatever annoys you that day. Here’s an idea: people should STOP DONATING to such orgs. Keep up the good work, Mikhaila.

  21. Geno Tessitore on September 10, 2018 at 4:33 pm

This article is so insanely ridiculous. They attached a diet to a political party? It boggles my mind that there are people walking around in the world who actually operate on that wavelength day in and day out..

  22. moiraeastman3 on September 10, 2018 at 10:51 pm

To Redrube, Me Too. I’m not upset at losing my masculinity. I’m just a grandmother and a great grandmother wanting releif from arthritis!

  23. H on September 11, 2018 at 5:57 am

I’m literally just trying to have some energy and not be in pain all the time here can healthy people please take their nonsense elsewhere

I’m 100% left-leaning but it’s incredible to me that leftists can go around accusing people of ableism and hating people with disabilities constantly, and then slander a woman who is–was–literally disabled by arthritis and depression for making herself feel better and trying to help others do the same. The reason you don’t see more leftists/liberals doing carnivore is because if you even claim that your mood or chronic illness could maybe be attached to what you eat in these circles you get painted as a woo-peddling ableist who hates people that take medication and probably is anti-vax too. Even saying cutting out gluten helped your mood/health makes you persona non grata sometimes.

You think I would be EATING ONLY BEEF if I hadn’t exhausted all other options? In my ideal world, I would be at 100% health living off of dumplings and sandwiches. For fuck’s sake.

In response to Jeroan: Love your line–‘the Ancel Keys Mythology’. Maybe someone will work out how many deaths Keys has caused. Could be more than the two World Wars. But don’t break rank and don’t think for yourself.

  26. dux on September 11, 2018 at 10:19 pm

This article gave me cancer, thankfully the beef only should cure it… lol

    • moiraeastman3 on September 12, 2018 at 2:40 am

      Great comment!

  27. ELENITA on September 12, 2018 at 12:00 am

I am a positive AB blood type. Everytime I eat beef and pork my face is bloated and i constipated. In the bible God warned Esdras not to eat meat and drink alcohol. I do not eat sugar and fried foods.

    • Fwibos on September 13, 2018 at 11:13 am

Good for you. Ima gonna continue to eat meat. I’ll eat an extra potion on your behalf.

    • Darlene Letourneau on September 16, 2018 at 4:54 pm

Esdras is not in the bible, but in an extra biblical book called by the same name.

  28. gypsyrozbud on September 12, 2018 at 4:43 pm

I guess that makes the vegans all leftists? How does this work anyway? I liked the link to Adolph Hitler being a vegetarian except when he ate caviar and his beloved liver dumplings! I am certainly getting a lot of entertainment value out of this blog!

    • Terri/teedee126 on September 13, 2018 at 4:20 am

And just to throw a monkey wrench into the whole “Vegans=Left” nonsense, one of the largest groups of vegans/vegetarians are the Seventh Day Adventists, doing it for religious reasons, and who are almost universally hard-right Conservatives, so take this divisive commentary with a huge grain of salt.

  29. Zoey on September 13, 2018 at 10:49 am

This Mother Jones article is not worth being used as toilet paper. Just pure trash and stupidity put out by liberals to further attempt to degrade people who have a brain and think with it.

    • Wolfie on September 26, 2018 at 11:34 am

Ah, but my dog disagrees. He says to tell you, “This article is the perfect toilet paper”. Otherwise, I agree. To think for oneself has become a Thought Crime. Agree or disagree, the insistence by the control-obsessed left that anyone who has an idea (or personal experience!) to the contrary of the mainstream groupthink (or their opinion) must be labeled, insulted and vilified is repugnant.

  30. Emma on September 15, 2018 at 11:15 am

For some people it is unfortunately. Some flat earth believers and people who see vegan as leftie social justice warriors do practice it sort of this way. It is an actual subculture thing right now in the alt right. But hey the quest for health doesn’t belong to any side of the political spectrum!

  31. Darlene Letourneau on September 16, 2018 at 5:10 pm

I know that people for them most part voice their concern for an all meat diet, out of genuine concern for our health, but I just wish that they would consider that almost every one of us who have chosen this diet, have done so after years of trying to resolve countless major health issues by following the standard “recommended” diets with little success and a further downward spiral in our health. If it is really harming our health ( More so than it already was) then why are so many reporting years of health issues disappearing within mere weeks or months.

    • teedee126 on September 17, 2018 at 7:58 pm

Agreed, Darlene. Also, the critics don’t seem to think about the fact that none of us would even be here if it weren’t for our ancestors eating meat for thousands of years and they didn’t deal with obesity, heart disease, diabetes, cancer or any of the dozens of autoimmune disorders we have now. They also had no cavities like today. I’ll never understand how they see meat eating as a negative thing, but I’ve waited so many years to get healthy that I’m not going to waste too much time worrying about anyone else’s opinions any longer. The mainstream health community and special interest groups like the AHA have wasted enough of our time telling us that meat, eggs and butter are bad while they push us to drink fruit juices, industrial seed oils, cereals, grains and milk several times a day. Enough is enough.

      • Darlene Letourneau on September 18, 2018 at 11:41 pm

Totally agree! Life’s to short to worry about someone else’s opinion. ( and made even shorter by following mainstream diet advice, lol!

  32. joe on September 21, 2018 at 5:11 pm

Humanized Beef is the best meat followed by the human centipede meats

  33. BB on September 21, 2018 at 11:45 pm

The answer may lie in the Meat But then I discovered gravity also effects the Meat. Or you can simply salt your meat for peak meat experience.

  34. Jeff on September 24, 2018 at 2:01 pm

It’s projection at its finest. The left gravitates towards veganism, vegetarianism, and environmentalism. Therefore, those that disagree or choose other options must be alt-right.

    • teedee126 on September 26, 2018 at 8:00 pm

No diet is “left” or “right” and I wish people would stop throwing in their little insults toward one group or the other because it’s just as bad as what this ridiculous article is trying to stir up. I’m a moderate liberal and a carnivore and my family is full of meat eaters who also hunt and we’ve been Democrats for generations and couldn’t care less if vegans or anyone else “approves” or not. People need to grow up and live and let live.

      • Go do some scientific research on October 30, 2018 at 7:50 am

Being right or left is a system of beliefs. Alt-right denies scientific facts about the global warming. Leftists are more prone to incorporate news (anti-conservatism). When we get some new scientific information, conservatists withstand.
You know that global warming is a fact, right? You know that eating meat will soon set us all in a very dangerous position as the species, right? If not, do some research. It’s not meat what helps you but eliminating the hight processed foods and simple carbohydrates. Paleo or keto are just FAD diets supported by NO scientific proof – but there are many proofs what such diet will cause for you in 10, 20, 30 years. People had never eaten so much meat as in past 100 years. Carnivorism isn’t “just a diet” as it doesn’t affect “just your own health” but the health of all of us – by the environment it destroys.

  35. Nissa Annakindt on September 26, 2018 at 10:54 am

It’s stupid. My knowledge about diet and nutrition have changed my diet— I went from low-calorie/semi-starvation diet, to vegetarianism, and then to keto/lowcarb. If I had a reason to switch my politics to ‘alt-left’, I wouldn’t sacrifice my health to go ‘vegan’ (which means what ‘vegetarian’ used to.)

  36. Steve Richards on September 28, 2018 at 7:19 pm

Well, the left is definitely suffering from psychological projection….
    AND… too much soy.
So maybe “Red Meat” is indeed a “Right” thing… LoL …”And that’s the way (uh-huh) I LIKE it!”
